A French IP for france.tv
If you’re French and living abroad, france.tv still gives you every news bulletin, but most of its films and series stay locked to France. That split comes from how France Télévisions buys its rights.

france.tv, Valve and the news
| What | French IP | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Films and series | Needed | Most of them are licensed for France alone, and abroad france.tv shows only the ones held with worldwide rights. Bebra’s French IP lifts that limit as long as france.tv doesn’t recognise the server. Streaming services often do, and then ask you to switch off the VPN. |
| Valve matches | Sometimes | Paris is Valve’s only match site in France. See VPN for gaming for when a French address lowers your ping. |
| TV news, weather and in-house news shows | Not needed | In January 2025 the French government confirmed that every France Télévisions news bulletin and the weather are open on france.tv to the French abroad. |
| The franceinfo app | Not needed | The same government answer says it isn’t geoblocked at all. |
france.tv on your TV
Can my laptop and my TV both use France at once?
Yes. One Bebra subscription has no device limit, and each device connects to France on its own. The TV needs its own copy of Bebra (Apple TV gets it from the App Store, Android TV as an APK file). Sign it in with a code from your phone under Account → Sign in on another device. Neither TV app accepts a guest account’s code, so tap Link e-mail on the phone first.
Selecting France
Searching for “Fra” leaves just France, so tap that. When you’re done with france.tv, tap the lit tile again to disconnect.
